Scrutinising Police Response to Victims and Communities

During my election I committed to ensure police scrutiny and transparency was central to the work I do.

Since taking office, I have updated my quarterly scrutiny meetings so that they are now live streamed and include questions submitted directly from the public.

This month there was focus on the Police response to supporting victims and communities including a particular emphasis on  what is being done to tackle violence against women and girls.

During the meeting I challenged the Chief Constable on the the work being done to tackle domestic abuse, improve rape conviction rates and root out misogyny and sexual misconduct from police ranks
